Since I had a bit of time, I thought I should come by and wish everyone a merry christmas, and a happy new year. I got a Xbox 360 like I asked for, so I'm good. Enjoy the holidays.

Funerals are due to be held of the victims of Thursday's attack on anti-terrorist police headquarters in Karachi, which left 20 dead.

Investigators are sifting through the debris and examining CCTV footage at the site.

A truck laden with explosives exploded after slamming into Criminal Investigation Department building on Thursday night.

Officials say it was the biggest blast ever to hit the Pakistani city.

No group has immediately claimed responsibility for the attack but the Taliban have been behind a number of similar attacks on police and army compounds in recent years.

Officials say up to five people are still missing and feared buried in the debris.
'Biggest blast'

Detectives are collecting footage from CCTV cameras installed at several points along the high security zone where the office was located to determine the route the explosive-laden trick took to approach it without being checked by security personnel.

The site of the blast is not far from the Sindh province chief minister's residence, the US consulate and several five-star hotels including the Sheraton.

They say the bombers used 1,000kg of explosives, making it the biggest blast ever to hit Karachi.

Life throughout the city has been affected following the attack which left at least 100 injured, says the BBC's Ilyas Khan in Islamabad.

Attendance in offices is reported to be thin, many schools are closed and there is little traffic, our correspondent says.

The funerals of half a dozen policemen who were killed in the attack are due to be held in the city after the Friday prayers. The bodies of paramilitary soldiers who died have been sent to their native towns and villages, mostly in the north-west of the country.

The Karachi bombing came a week after a suicide bombing on a mosque packed with worshippers killed 68 people in the north-west of the country. Hours later, a grenade assault on a second mosque in the area killed four people.
